Meet James

James has lived here with his wife, children, their shepherd-husky and their cat for the last 20 years. He graduated from UGA in 1996 and received his law degree from Mercer in 2000. He is a graduate of Leadership Forsyth, serves on the board for Bald Ridge Lodge and has volunteered in our schools as well as with The Place, Mentor Me and Literacy Forsyth. He and his family attend the Church of Good Shepherd.

James served as a judicial clerk for two years where he gained first-hand experience evaluating cases to reach a decision that is fair, impartial and just to all – a perspective that has benefited all of Forsyth county over the last two decades. James has served the people of this county for 20 years as an assistant district attorney. He has prosecuted just about every type of criminal case imaginable including murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, child molestation, drug sales, vehicular homicide and all of the underlying misdemeanors that would come before him in State Court. James is the sole prosecutor assigned to the Drug and Gang taskforce, he handles the majority of the civil cases for the DA’s office and has directly argued over 60 cases in our appellate courts, including the Supreme Court.

James has extensive trial experience and has been involved in running a courtroom for his entire career. James appears in 4 different courtrooms 3-5 days/week, giving him direct experience on how to run a Forsyth court in a manner that is efficient and considerate of everyone’s time while also being fair.

In every case James has navigated, he always takes great care because he knows that the decisions he makes affect people for the rest of their lives. That understanding and mindset is vital for your next state court Judge.
